In memoriam
Abstract
Andrzej Zaborski, long-term professor of Afro-Asiatic languages at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, was an outstanding scholar and teacher. For almost two decades his academic career was tightly connected with Vienna University, where from the early 1980s he acted as lecturer and later guest professor at the Departments of African and Oriental Studies. With his unique expertise he significantly contributed to both disciplines at a time when Europe was still divided by the Iron Curtain.
