The Portuguese occupation of the Trucial States is a period which few historians and fewer archaeologists have studied but a brief survey of the northern States of Ras al-Khaima and Fujaira in 1968 showed that the region is not without interest, particularly in relation to the distribution of Far Eastern ceramics during the 16th and 17th centuries.
